Energy
I flew to Montreal today. I freely admit that I was sorry to leave town at such a crucial time during the political process in which I've been so involved these last few months. But I'm doing what I have to do. Yesterday I stopped by Yarmuth headquarters to say goodbye and good luck, because I wasn't sure if I'd be back before election day (I already voted, in case you're wondering). John came out of his campaign manager's office and greeted me warmly. I was touched, and I could tell that he was genuinely glad to see me. We talked for a bit about the latest series of attack ads by the Northup campaign - the ones that criticize John's restaurants, where some franchize owners pay minimum wage. "Ridiculous, " I told him, "and I already polled some people on their reaction to it - they're all in agreement that the ad is backfiring. " John, after all, is the guy who supports raising the minimum wage, and discussion of that topic can only raise awareness of the issue.
.
Coincidentally, Andrew Horne stopped by while I was there. Burrel, as always, was in the corner stuffing envelopes. "All four primary candidates are here, " someone observed, and everyone nodded.
.
New poll numbers show Yarmuth and Northup in a dead heat, and the mood at John's HQ was very upbeat. You could feel the energy just by being there, and I am anxious to get back as soon as I can to rejoin the fight.
